This coming Sunday during our worship time we will celebrate our Hanging of the Greens service. This is a time when we prepare our sanctuary for the coming Advent and Christmas Season. Our message will center around preparing our hearts for Christmas just as we take time to prepare our sanctuary and our homes. I hope you will join us for this wonderful tradition as we worship together.
I really wanted to use this space this week to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! I have many fond memories of Thanksgiving in my own life as time is spent with family and friends in fellowship and over the table of, very often, a very large meal. These memories are etched in my mind and will forever be there. Traveling to grandparents’ homes, visiting with Aunts and Uncles and cousins, and eating more food than I thought was possible. Times have changed a good bit and many traditions of old are not as they used to be. This is the case in our family. Like all of you Sandy and I very much enjoy spending time with family and friends over a Thanksgiving meal. And that is what we did this past Saturday at our annual church wide Thanksgiving dinner. We had the opportunity to share a meal with our friends and family and share in the things we are thankful for.
I pause this Thanksgiving season and give thanks for you all. Old and young, men and women, office workers and laborers…you are our friends and we consider you to be our family. I thank God in my every remembrance of you and I am thankful for His bringing us here. I hope you will take the time this Thanksgiving to sit down with your family and friends (whoever it may be you celebrate Thanksgiving with) and share the things you are thankful for.
God is good and He has most certainly been good to me. For that I am very thankful!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!
